After an initial consultation to find out how the client lives, her likes and dislikes, as well as her budget and things she wanted to keep that we needed to work with, we came up with a design plan.

With a design plan, we graph the space to determine furniture placement and which elements to highlight. In this case we realized immediately that the door needed to be moved in the sunroom to allow for furniture placement and that removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room would make all the difference in the world! Seeing the design plan helped our client to visualize what her space would look and feel like. Heath Davis Construction brought all the plans to life.

We then presented palette options. In this case the client chose neutrals and a dreamy wall color (SW Pearl Gray). Surface World in Athens provided the classic subway tile backsplash and beautiful steel gray granite. A fabric for the upholstered chairs in the sunroom became our inspiration for pops of color throughout. Two chairs and an ottoman from Reflections Home Furnishings fit perfectly in the space and the additional bench seating and custom seat cushion by Stitches by Sandie added another cozy spot for guests to sit and chat. The color was also used in the rug and chairs purchased in the dining room.

We knew we wanted to include a sliding door on the pantry to not impeded traffic flow getting in this small space. The client found this chippy, fabulous door at Preservation Company. We toned down the original color to make it work in the space and applied a film so the pantry contents remained hidden from view. The floating shelves provided storage and display space while keeping the small space open. A quick faux finish made the inexpensive but super strong MDF shelves look like solid pieces of wood.

Neutral window panels, touches of gold and silver, new light fixtures from Inline Lighting and the clients art beautifully re-framed at Alabama Framer as well as custom art by our own Tracyne (TF Korrel) and a custom sign from Touch of Class round out the space.

Each element from that beginning design plan and palette was built upon. Our client didn’t pivot but stayed the course and ended with a beautiful, cohesive, finished, collected space. We couldn’t be prouder and were thrilled at how happy our client was with the final reveal. We hope she enjoys the space for years to come!
